Monst-AIR (v.0.001)

April 12th, 2008

I’m pretty familiar with the letters O, C, and D.

As evidence, I offer this post:

Computer code (and anything else normally found in a stark courier typeface) had, until a few weeks ago, always been something to avoid. But! For whatever reason, one morning my brain’s ‘programming’ switch flipped to ‘obsess,’ and in admirable OCD fashion I decided to tackle C#, PHP, MySQL, XML, and Actionscript 3 (for Flash and Flex AIR deployment)… all at the same time.

I actually think it’s going pretty well!

Attached is an example for my buddy Mape. Mape and I have been playing with Adobe AIR for about a year — well, I’ve been nearby while Mape was playing with AIR — and this is my first, all-my-own, didn’t ask nobody for knowhow, bonafide AIR app. Sorta. (Mape? Yeah, he’s unimpressed.) It’s silly, it’s ridiculous, but this little gem is an important milestone toward a legitimate desktop-based AIR app!

Behold, ‘The Circle Dragger!’ (Pretend it’s a big fancy GUI window.)

Doh!
